Marco Taisch May 7th, 2016 QUESTIONS (14 points) Question 1 (7 points): Explain what qualifiers, order losers and order winners are, and how they can be identified. Question 2 (7 points): List and explain which are the factors that can be leveraged for the alignment of capacity and demand in services. EXERCISES (19 points) Exercise 1 (10 points) The AGILE is a company which produces mechanical components. In total, it has to deliver 800 good products each day. The production system is composed by four stages in sequence: one milling stage, one welding stage, one deflashing stage and one finishing stage. The first stage, the milling one, is composed by just one machine. Once pieces have been worked in this first stage, they go to the second stage, the welding one, which is composed by four machines that are techn ologically identical and that work in parallel. The pieces that are worked in this stage are processed according to a FIFO logic. The four welding machines are technologically very advanced and all have an automatic quality control on board able to interce pt defective pieces.
