1 Written Exam ELABORAZIONE DI SEGNALI E IMMAGINI BIOMEDICHE Biomedical Signal and Image Processing (Section: “Signals” – Prof. S. Cerutti) 13th June, 2013 SURNAME: NAME: Matr. Number: 1) Describe in details the various modes of representation of the Heart Rate Variability signal (HRV). 2 2) Synthetically describe how it is possible to obtain monopolar or bipolar leads in 10 -20 system of EEG signal. 3) Synthetically describe how pheno mena of atrial flutter and fibrillation can be generated from mechanisms of atrial tachycardia. 3 4) Display a spectrum of HRV signal in a diabetic subject with neuropathy and compare it with that one of a normal subject. 5) Be {r i(k)} the series of beat -to-beat RR values on ECG signal and {s i(k)} the series of the corresponding values of systolic blood pressure. Suggest one method for calculating baroreceptive α gain. 4 (6) The objective is to study the variability of ventricular response (beat -to-beat RT signal) and to compare it with the cardiac variability of sino -atrial node (beat -to-beat RR signal). Draw in a qualitative way the spe ctra of the two variability signals (with their measurement units) in the following cases: i) normal subject and ii) subject with serious ischemic pathology. Finally, suggest a quantitative method to measure, in the two cases, how much of the RT variabilit y does depend on RR variability and explicit some possible values. 5 7) A monitoring system of anaesth esia level is going to be designed on the basis of EEG signal (4 leads: 2 -frontal dx -sx and 2 -occipital dx -sx). Indicate what kind of signal processing can be implemented in monovariate (on the 2 frontal leads) and bivariate (on the 2 occipital leads) ways and suggest some of the obtained values in the epochs: I (before anaesthesia), II…
