In not many years, our society will see an incredible increase in upper ranges and this is reflected by old age dependency ratio. It is a ratio of population aged 65 on working population: resources users VS resources producers. Demography: age shift consequences: Living longer than ever before is a great achievement for EU countries. However, policies must adapt so that all people (young and old alike) will benefit from this. More people living longer and fewer persons in working age in the EU. Dramatic changes in the population structure over the coming 50 years à changes in working behaviour. Now we have 4 people on average working for one retired, in the future we will have 2 people working for one retired.
