01. Recap exercises 1 E XERCISE J OB S HOP A manufacturing company is going to organize a new production system with the typical layout of job shop . Three different departments (M1, M2, M3) will be designed and installed, which will serve to produce at least three types of product (A, B, C). We hav e the following information: The production system will work 2 shifts of 8 hours per day, 300 days/year. Departments have different coefficients: - M1, M2 and M3 consider a human coefficient (HC) of 0.95 and an Availability (A) of 0.97. - In M1, M2, and M3 – for all the products - setups last 2 hours for each change of production. - The scheduling efficiency (SE) must be set equal to 0.88. - There are no scraps (information to be used for defining SR). - It is expected to produce average batches of 2000 pieces (r egardless of the type of product). The objective is to determine the number of machines and the expected saturation rate for each department . Use the available blank pages for the solution and present clearly your design decisions in the table below. Mo reover, the production manager wants to understand which is the best solution for the production system, in terms of the most appropriate number of shifts , considering that the planned machines cost as follow: - M1 = 60000 € - M2 = 40000 € - M3 = 50000 € Con sider that: - For each machine, a direct cost of 15000 €/year should be considered (for energy, maintenance, etc.). - Each machine needs at least one operator to work. - The cost of one operator is 40000 €/year. - M2 and M3 shops could work only 2 shifts a day. - If needed, M1 shop could work up to 24 hours/day, with 3 shifts (1 shift more) but to allow this an additional operating cost of 3000 €/year should be considered for each M1 machine and at least one…
