Problem A (8 points) Consider the Input-Output Table (IOT) of a generic national economic system provided in the “Problem A” tab of the Excel file. All transactions are expressed in monetary currency (millions USD). Providing the necessary analytical expressions and related elaboration, it is required to: 1. (2 pt) Check if the table is balanced, calculate the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the represented system and its electricity mix by source based on the total economic electricity production. 2. (1 pt) Calculate the technical coefficient matrices for both value added and intermediate transactions. According to the national electricity strategy, the country is expected to invest 1 billion USD per year to install new Solar & Wind capacity. This investment is broken down among the other economic sectors according to shares reported in the following table: Mining Metals production Other manufacturing Construction Services Share (%) 5.0% 15.0% 60.0% 10.0% 10.0% 3. (2 pt) Compute the absolute change of the country’s GDP and the relative change in GDP compared to the baseline year. Is this change higher or lower compared to the investments yield? Why?
