Lunch boxes assembly line After graduating in Engineering, Kevin Kudo decided to dedicate 6 months to his childhood passion: boy-scouts. He joined the local boy -scout chapter and decided to help them improve their day -by- day operations by applying concepts and methodologies learned at the university. The first area of improvement was, without any doubt, assembling lunch boxes. He remembers having studied techniques to design an assembly line, a much better configuration in comparison to the current, very inefficient, “fixed position” configuration. With 500 meal boxes to package per day, during the big summer gathering, and just a 5 hours working shift (operators start working at 6am but all boxes have to be ready by 11am), a paced-line would avoid t he very frequent delays and meal -box shortages that were dogging the former organization. Start drawing the assembly graph of a lunch box. 2. Calculate the cycle time. 3. Design a manual assembly line adopting the Maximum Incompletion Probability Allowed criteria (with max probability = 10%), adequately commenting all steps followed and showing all calculations. When more than one operation is available, priority should always be given to the operation with the maximum number of direct and indirect succeeding operations. 4. Critical comments.
