Un ufficio dispone di 3 PC connessi da una LAN (Ethernet a 10 Mbps, modellata con modello Load Independent) che è connessa ad Internet tramite un modem ISDN che ha una banda di 64 Kbps. Gli utenti dei 3 PC navigano su web e si connettono allo stesso sito il cui server web ha un carico D WS = 250 ms; il loro think time medio è pari a 4 s. La dimensione di un pacchetto (sia sulla LAN che su Internet) è pari a 1024 byte. Per effettuare una richiesta al Server Web è necessario spedire un pacchetto di 1 KB. I file che il web server fornisce come risposta possono essere classificati in quattro categorie con dimensione media e probabilità date da: 0.8 KB 35% 5.5 KB 50 % 80 KB 14 % 800 KB 1% Si trascuri il tempo per la trasmissione dei dati attraverso Internet, ma si prenda in considerazione il tempo necessario per trasmettere dati su ISDN. a) Rappresentare graficamente un modello per il sistema descritto. b) Determinare throughput e response time del sistema. c) Sfruttando tecniche di analisi asintotica individuare il numero di utenti che fa saturare la risorsa bottleneck. Il risultato ottenuto è coerente con quanto trovato al punto a) ? Giustificare. d) FACOLTATIVO: Una volta identificato il collo di bottiglia del sistema, proporre almeno due soluzioni alternative per rimuoverlo. Esercizio 2.
