Pagina 1 di 9 Fundamentals of Communication Networks Prof. G. Maier Exam – 21st June 2018 Surname Name Student ID Total time 2:15 Ex1 (6pt) Ex2 (6pt) Ex3 (6pt) Ex4 (6 pt) Ques (8 pt) 1 - Exercise (6 points) A private organization runs an Internet Cafè and a private datacenter. The network of the organization is shown in the picture below. The network manager wants to assign IP addresses using the private address block that starts from 172.16.0.0, consuming the minimum number of address es in that block . Each subnet is conventionally named by a letter assigned in increasing alphabetical order according to the number of hosts (A largest network, etc.). The customers of the Cafè can connect their own laptops to a WiFi network: up to 500 w ireless accesses active at the same time will be g uaranteed. Moreover, customers can use the 230 Cafè’s desktops, connected by wired access to network B. Network D is used by the staff and will serve 40 hosts. The network of switches represented in the figure is dedicated to the private datacenter. The datacenter has three server racks, each one served by a top -of-rack switch. Assume that each top-of-rack switch has 31 ports, fully occupied. pp stands for point-to-point link. Define an addressing plan for the network able to support all necessary addresses for each subnet . On the figure, graphically indicate the IP subnets (identify boundaries). For each subnet define address, netmask, direct broadcast address, and fill up the table. Display the subnetting plan in a pie chart. Pagina 2 di 9 Subnet #addresses #hosts IP address Netmask D. broadcast Pagina 3 di 9 2 - Exercise (6 points) Consider the USA NSF network below, in which the cost of each link is reported near the link. 1- Consider the whole network a single routing domain.…
