Supplementary material Spacecraft Attitude Dynamics and Control Politecnico di Milano Prof. James Douglas Biggs Part 2: Attitude determination and control systems Spacecraft Attitude Dynamics and Control Course notes Note for the reader These short notes are in support of the course “Attitude dynamics and control”, they are not intended to replace any textbook or to cover exactly what is taught in class i.e there is additional material in the class not covered here and vice versa. Interested readers are encouraged to consult also printed textbooks and archival papers. Acknowledgments These notes are a new edition of previous class notes from Professor Franco Bernelli with the aid of Ivan Ferrario and Prof. Mauro Massari, former students of the class. Technological evolution provides continuously upgraded and improved sensors and actuators used for attitude determination and control of spacecraft. These notes, therefore, report some basic concept and operating principle of the most common sensors and actuators, and the reader is encouraged to consult the catalogues of the manufacturers to collect information of the actual functional schemes.
