10 Politecnico di Milano Dipartimento di Ingegneria Aerospaziale Impianti e Sistemi Aerospaziali FUEL SYSTEM Pinco Pallino July 2013 11 1. Preface This relation has the purpose of checking if a kind of pump, whose data are well defined by the problem, is able to support a fuel system composed by two wing tanks, each linked to a different main tank set in the fuselage. These two main tanks provide fuel to two tail engines. There are four pump, one between each couple of main tank and wing tank and one between each conduit which links a fuselage tank to an engine. 2. Index 1. Preface 11 2. Index 11 3. Symbols used 12 4. Description of the problem and method of resolution 13 4.1. Calculate the losses due to the alimentation pipelines and the transfer pipelines 13 4.2. Checking if the pump given can support the fuel system in normal condition 13 4.3. Checking if the pump given can support the fuel system in cross feed 14 4.3.1. With cross feed next to the pumps 14 4.3.2. With cross feed next to the engines 14 4.4. Checking if the pump given can support the transfer from a wing tank 14 to a main one 12 4.4.1.
