After this deadline, the grade will be automatically consolidated and verbalised. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bioartificial pancreas The intravascular bioartificial pancreas is designed to be connected to an arterial blood vessel in a patient. The device can be modelled as a cylindrical cartridge containing pancreatic β cells, obtained from donors, expanded and embedded in a hydrogel. It is designed to be anastomosed to the patient’s blood vessel through lateral tubes. The insulin synthesised by the β cells diffuses into the circulating blood stream.
