! !Energy!Conversion,!201422015,!Prof.!Valenti!!!!!Project(1:(Economic(Analysis(of(diverse(powerplants(((((Artoni!Alessandro!!!!!!!!!!!!Bortolotti!Alberto!!!!!!!!!!!!Cordisco!Giuliano!!This first project is focus on an economic analysis of diverse power plants in order to evaluate what are the strengths and the weaknesses of each of them and chose when some are better and when others. We will deal with the most common and convenient technologies available nowadays on the market: • Hydroelettric pumped power plant (Hydro) • Nuclear power plant with pressurized water reactor (PWR) • Simple Cycle Natural Gas: o Natural Gas-Fired Heavy-Duty gas turbine in single cycle (HDGT) o Natural Gas-Fired Aero-Derivative gas turbine in simple cycle (ADGT) o Natural Gas Steam Cycle (NGSC) • Combined Cycle Natural Gas: o Natural Gas-fired combined cycle (NGCC) o Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) • Steam Cycle o Pulverized Coal Steam Cycle (PCSC)+ FGD (Flue Gas desulphurization) o Pulverised Coal Ultra.Super Critical Steam cycle (USC)+FGD • Cogenerative Cycle o Cogenerative Combined Cycle (CCcog) • Renewable energies o Concentrated Solar Power Plant: Parabolic Trough with Diathermic oil + Steam Cycle (CSP) o On-shore wind farm (With 8 m/s air speed, WINDa) o On-shore wind farm (With 15 m/s ari speed WINDb) Point A) To perform this analysis we are going to compare the cost of 1 Kwh produced by each of this technologies. To do this comparison we need some intermediate steps. First of all we have to remember how the total cost is formed by two components: the fixed cost (which does not depends on how much we’re able to work with our power plant) and the variable cost (that instead is directly proportional to the equivalent hours of the plant). We can thus write:…
